Mid-Autumn Festival 2008!!!

Like all other years, we continue to preserve the tradition of celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival (zhong1 qiu1 jie2) by putting up performances on the stage set up on the state land beside Kong Chow.

But this year is different - almost all performances (ranging from martial arts to lion dance) other than the karaoke singing, were staged by kongchow kidz and kungfu kids (trained under the china chen sifu).

Also, there were many activites such as riddle guessing (cai1 deng1 mi2), kicking chap-teh etc that promoted interaction with audience from all walks of life (*clap clap clap!!!*)

The set up of the new youth committee seems to have produced some very encouraging results by revamping this festive celebration to attract more new blood and give it a refreshing look.

Okay, here's the photos many have been urging me to post. they give only a glimpse of our v enjoyable Kong Chow mid-autumn festival. So if u've missed out the fun, do be more active and check out our Kong Chow events. Or even better, join us and be part of the kong chow family!

In the Spirit of Beijing Olympics :)

hi all, i know it's a really long time since this blog has been updated :S
but well, juz like the awoken beijing dragon after a long slumber, kongchowkidz blog back again :D

i believe u ppl must have watched the Beijing Olympics on 08/08/08 at 08:08 pm. WOW rite? Dun cha feel proud tt the blood within u is actually chinese? Zhang Yimou is really one great director who gives our long-forgotten by many rich cultural heritage a new leash of life. The spectacular sea of golden armour men drumming, e 208 ppl performing taiji, the magnificient & brilliant use of the mega scroll, the superb synchronization of moving tiles, lighting up e mega torch in air, fireworks etc. What i personally love most was tt the performance actually showcase the great inventions of chinese: paper, printing of chinese words, gun power etc

so cheers to beijing olympics!

(p.s. while china is trying its best to recover what's lost during the 10 years cultural revolution, let us singaporean chinese preserve and promote what precious chinese heritage our china forefathers gave us. u never know, we might have got what they've lost. appreciate and save it before its long lost!)
